STEP BY STEP

Let’s make it.

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 20 cm square tin. Pat the prepared strawberries dry.
  2. Mix the almond meal, baking powder and salt. Separately whisk the eggs, yogurt, butter, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Spread the batter in the tin and press the strawberry pieces lightly into the top without burying them completely.
  4. Bake for 30–38 minutes, until golden and a skewer inserted between the berries comes out without wet batter.
  5. Cool for 10 minutes in the tin, then lift onto a rack and cool fully. Cut into 12 servings.

Kitchen notes

  • Very juicy berries can make wet patches; quarter them and pat dry before baking. The recipe contains a modest measured amount of sugar.
  • The total time includes approximately 45–55 minutes for cooling before slicing. A larger or deeper bake may need longer.
